Ready to make your first violin?
We supply violins 'in the white' - ready for final light sanding,
sealing and varnishing. This is the ideal way to experiment with your first violin making project. A fingerboard is supplied, loose or lightly
fixed, but there are no other fittings, so you can customize the violin yourself.
The method of finishing the violin is to apply 2 or 3 coats of a clear base coat, build up the colour to the desired tone with a coloured varnish, and then finish with 2 or 3 coats of clear varnish. Each coat must be allowed to dry fully before adding the next coat, and then a few days for spirit varnish or a few weeks for oil varnish allowed, before rubbing down and polishing.
We have all the materials you need to complete your finished instrument: varnish and stains, glue, fittings and strings.
(Please note that we can only deliver varnish, adhesive and glue to UK mainland addresses)
