This unique cello fingerboard is made from special Flaxwood material.
Flaxwood is unaffected by changes in temperature or climate and performs reliably in all conditions. The fingerboard can be planed and shaped, just like traditional ebony or rosewood fingerboards.
For luthiers searching for alternatives to tropical hardwoods, the Flaxwood cello fingerboard offers a new environmentally friendly raw material (no rare hardwoods are used) that maintains the feel and sound of traditional ebony.
Flaxwood is an innovative tone material that is created by breaking the grain structure of natural wood and injection-moulding it into shape together with an acoustically sensitive binding agent. It also avoids the irregularities that can be found in the grain and knots of traditional tonewoods.
Flaxwood is also an ecological alternative to wood species used in traditional instrument building that are now under pressure.
Developed and made in Finland.
Dimensions: L= 605mm, H = 21mm, W = 60mm at wide end and 32mm at narrow end
